Hello everyone! I recently purchased this uniquely colored jade cobble, from a well-established Big Sur ("old school") local. It's difficult to tell, but there are purple/lavender highlights in between the black. The likely hood of coming across this "in the field" is probably pretty slim. (for me at least. LOL)

That sort of mtl. not uncommon in northern CA., southern OR, youngest picked up a bunch in creek beds right along 101 a couple years ago. Cuts and polishes nice.

That is beautiful henry! I would have to buy it if I saw it myself. I hope to go a-hunting for some of those someday. My wife and I have begun talking about a NW road trip for next year. I hope we can make it happen! ~Roland

Next time I talk to Jake, I'll find out which creeks. I do know he went as far south as the big rock shop south of Crescent City, so somewhere N. of that.

Man, that is some nice jade. Love the colors and the marbleing. henry and stephan, I have a friend who lives in Nor-Cal and collects some amazing jades from the Klamath River. I don't remember the exact location, but he finds some of the nicest, most translucent green Nephrite I've ever seen. Lots of nice grossular and vesuvianite found there too.

That's really pretty material you've got, good luck with it. Kinda waxy surface like polished carnelian, nice.

Ditto finding Jade along the Klamath and tributaries. Lots around Happy Camp! which is mostly Vesuvianite, but has that nice bright Green color. If in S. Oregon, check the Applegate River, nice blue/green material w/ dark spots- know as Applegate Jade. There is also alot of serpentine around, not as hard as jade, but very interesting colors and patterns.
