Have some rogue canes traveling away from the grove. Usually keep them mowed down. Bush/small trees had grown up in this area too. Whipped out the tractor and mowed the bush and left the canes for 'propagation' to increase grove size. A couple of years and those rogue canes will create hundreds more. Photos from ATV perspective, at dusk From ATV, right to left Behind perspective is a 5 acre hill, basically a knob. Considering removing young timber selectively to increase from 3/4 acre to 5 acres. As bamboo takes over trees pretty much die and floor looks like carpet as understory is shaded out. Large bamboo has deeper roots and takes over smaller shallow growing varieties. Dog eat dog world.

Your rogue canes look pretty sharp, jamesp! Do you have any problems with Chinese privet? I detest the stuff! It's worse than kudzu.

Having great luck with Zombie fertilizer. Grind then up and dry, cast at a rate of 10 pounds/1000 sq.ft.

gingerkid, cut it off at ground level, spray new growth with Roud-Up the next summer. Say good bye to privet.

Many thanks for the tip, jamesp, and will give it a try! Since we've received so much rain this year, the stuff is outtahand. It's everywhere. I wondered if you had any battles with it at your nursery.

Zombie fertilizer?! ROFL! I found some Zombie for Her perfume by Demeter while wasting time one day for the "Zombie Squad" collection I created on evilbay. Zombie for Her perfume by Demeter "Zombie for Her: Think forest floor. Zombie for Her is a combination of dried leaves, mushrooms, mildew, moss and earth with a touch of Dregs from the bottom of the wine barrel for that feminine touch."

Ah, now that's a good idea, sweet smelling zombie gals. I hope they will do such a flick in my bamboo
