This past weekend I drove a few hours to hunt for pet wood. Locations I picked out and found using google eart. Here are most of the spoils. Nothing huge but I only surface hunted (there was so much of it around!) Here is a piece I thought would have potential and I like what the slab looks like Here are some pieces I found in water. Looks like current wood and not petrified An old bridge we found thinking it would be drivable, but no Selfie pic of us after a long day of hunting Last spot we went to to just relax and not collect Was very hot, but very rewarding. I'll go back with the kids some time in the future and let them collect the small stuff while I go diving for bigger fish.

Happy selfie. Beautiful wood Jimi. Looks like it is dead solid. Never knew Bama had such high grade wood.
How much did you pay Tonya to get in the camera w/you ?

Very pretty pet wood cab, they're all neat. I find a lot of pet wood, but your haul is colossal.

Forgot to mention there was tons of red carnelian agate too. Some carnelian. Didn't get too much as I was going for the petwood and figured this would tumble well with the wood. And here is what it looks like with the end off and unpolished. Here's a cab I just finished from some. Same pics plus video: http://instagram.com/p/5KcFqliYWO

Great polish on both the agate and pet-wood. Sometimes even though the pet-wood looks soft, it takes a great polish. It seems that you have found some great locations with hopefully more to come and show off to us!

What's up with this? This is the first time I had this happen...an "auto-duplicate".

Oh boy, what a carnelian! The cabs is wonderful. Would a fist-sized carnelian be worth making some slabs, even if there are a few hair line fractures? And then proceeding with cabbing and polishing? I have one, it is my profile pic, broseph82. Advice would be well appreciated!

I have one, it is my profile pic, broseph82. Advice would be well appreciated! Yes, the carnelian I Cabbed wasn't even fist sized. Depending on how big you want your cab just work around the fractures. The pet wood I Cabbed is fractured. Had to break off a couple pieces to get that small one out of it. All you can do now is cut it and see what's inside (color and crack wise).

Well, I tumbled the carnelian(3.5 inches by 2 inches by 1.5 inches) a while back, so it has a bit of polish, but still has some pits. Afraid of putting it in tumbler again. I don't have the tools to cut and makes slabs and cabs. Although, it does look fine the way it is. I keep it in a black rock pouch.
Any idea what would be an estimate/price range of a pound or so of a single carnelian agate? Or is there any way to tell? The piece I have is the only one I have. I originally dug it out of the bank in southern Kentucky. Maybe they're just really rare. That'd hike up the price, perhaps. At the same time the carnelian looks to good to give away.
Back to your carnelian piece, looks to be the same colors as mine. Has awesome cut.
Of course, a picture.

Type it in on e-Bay and you'll get a roughly high estimate (in most cases) what it's going for. adam
