I will be driving east from Glendive to Bismark on a quick round trip with an hour or two to spare.... Any recommendations for rock shops along 94 or in Bismark? In advance, many thanks. Cheers

Sorry Buddy,no rock shops in ND......Your best bet is to swing into Savage, just south of Sidney and hit "Harmon's" rockshop.. Bring a drool rag and boots, because the older Harmon loves to BS about rocks-they are the Montana agate KINGS!

Andy-If you have time, drop down south of Glendive and do some fossil hunting...Head down Merril to Marsh road, headed out of town-get to Cedar creek (dry) walk it going either direction, plus the knolls in the area too...

Whirlwind trip to Bismark to pickup a new pup. Cheers Yay Andy!! Ya know you opened yourself up by telling us in advance. Now you will be hounded mercilessly until you p/u the puppy, bring it home, and post numerous cute pics of it! We also need lots of information. Pup....PUPPY!!!!!! We rockhounds luv PUPPIES!!! PICTURE WE NEED a PICTIRE!!! Soon we need a fix!!! Names let's see , North Dakota....Err ok if it's a girl we will name it Sioux!!! Hey that's pretty good huh? If it's a boy we will name him M.T. because that North Dakota is one huge empty piece of real estate!!! Come on I done good! I know ya ain't supposed to bragg on yourself but hey it takes a mighty poor frog that won't bragg on his own pond!!! Right??? Bill, ya know you can't name a dog (or anything else for that matter) "Sioux" without pissing off some group or another, lol.
Now why would said dog need to be a girl? The Man in Black sang about a boy named that. But, then again, "Life ain't easy for a boy named Sue..." Oh wait, boy dog we're talking about, not human boy. Dog's don't have gender issues, lol.

Way to call me out rockpickerforever....ha Whrilwind trip and this guy was a rockstar on the road trip. He only whined when he needed to do his business...the whole way from MN to MT. We are very pleased with his disposition, character and what we see in the natural traits we want in a hunting dog and companion. His name is "Rev" short for "All revved up"...oh yeah and he is an english springer spaniel. Anyway, I will be preoccupied with this guy for awhile. Good suggestions on name orrum, I like your style. However, the name we settled on fits this guy. I never name them until I meet them, had quite a few over the years and this makes (2) springers back in the house, the world is right again. I toatally feed off their energy. Cheers

Looks like you already went. Too bad. You missed out on the Dickenson ND dinosaur museum. It is about 50 miles east of Glendive.

Awwwwww, what a cutie! And love his name (so THERE, orrum ) Sorry about calling you out, Andy, but, you know, it's all about the better good, lol. You know how everyone here loves dogs, pets, animals... especially PUPPIES!!! What kind of game will you be hunting with him? Ducks, doves, pheasants? Thanks for posting, and hopefully you will provide updates on his growing up! (Maybe voluntarily, without needing the not-so-subtle pokes that jamesp requires at time.) Jean

I will add that there are 2 rock shops in the State of North Dakota, One in Bismark and one in Fargo. I haven't been to the Fargo one yet, but the Bismark rock shop is not worth visiting. It was mostly beads, shells, and tumbled stones and the prices were not very competitive.
I'd recommend the Heritage Center instead if you are in Bismark and looking to kill some time.
