This slab was once Bill Branson's. For those of you who don't know who Bill Branson is, he was the one who found the most beautiful cycad every found. He was a true rockhound and had a great collection. He passed away last year.
Well, his collection was sold along with the cycad. One of my facebook friends bought a bunch of slabs from a rock shop and this one was in it. This dino bone is very well known with the gembone purist. Shame that it was just thrown around and one side broke off. I do have it though.
This particular dino bone was owned by Ernie Shirley, the all time king dino bone dealer. He sold it to Lamont Ekkers. Lamont cut it up. A good friend of mine got the biggest cut from Lamont. Still following me? lol
I ended up with it. So now I have both end cuts of this wild dino bone. Pretty cool. This is one of the finest dino bones I have seen. I know where 5 other slabs of this dino bone are. They are in friends collections.
here is the photo where I noticed it immediately. The guy who had it had no ideal about the history of this particular dino.
here is a friend, Steve Holmes, he is a member on here but don't get on here anymore. Anyways, he was friends with Bill Branson and photographed this bone and the colorful cycad while he was there.

Here is the big brother. 8 pounds. to the slab and the other end cut. I was at a concert when my friend called me about this bone. It was holloween 2012 and I was sitting in the parking lot at The Pageant music venue in St Louis where I was going to see The Allman Brothers Band lead guitarist, Warren Haynes play. Im sitting out in the parking lot talking dino bones while others around me are partying.lol
