Theme: Fun and enjoyment.
Option 1 - All cabs must have something that makes someone feel a seance of enjoyment or fun. This can be done by shape, color, rock pattern or other methods that can be thought of.
Option 2 - You can choose any material that reminds you of something fun you did (probably something you found but there could be others), however you also will need to provide a story about the fun time you had. I'm not talking about you just found it with a few people but a really fun time. A little story telling shall we say.
Rules:
Cabs entered must be completed by the deadline (they can be started before the month). All entries will require a photo of the slab or rock, preform and finished cab. So no cabs pulled from the drawer.
You can enter as many photos of the finished cab as you like (within reason) on the same post. If you decide to add another photo later on, please edit your original post.
Things like intarsias, carvings, jewelry, and composite type cabs may not be entered (unless otherwise specified) in an effort to keep the contest somewhat fair by just entering free form style cabs. It is OK if there is a hole drilled in the item as long as there is no extras on the rock (wire, chord, etc.)
We ask that all entries submitted to this contest be unique to this competition (not submitted in several different competitions). any duplicates will not be included in the voting list.
Feel free to share with us what ever you like about the material, the process or what ever else you would like to share.
Also, don't forget to include the name of the material.
If a tie occures in the voting the breaker will be whoever submitted the finished item first.
@wampidy is generous enough to send some goodies to the winner.

Nice, Thanks for stepping up while others are so busy. I know at times I get overwhelmed with things and I too Commend all the hard work that Carleton and everyone has put through the years. It's nice to see another challenge with something fun. Thanks everyone.

Yes, glennz01 thank you for doing this and thanks to carleton, too. I always enjoy seeing what everybody does. Maybe, I will even enter a competition. If I can ever remember to get pics of the slab and preform, I will.

No problem guys. I'm not going to be a stickler about the preform and slab as I sometimes forget that myself... but honesty and integrity goes a long way. maybe just a slab with your planned sketch.. The voting will be similar to this last one... granted youll see the votes after voting. I like the surprise though

Excuse me? You take a photo of a pile of rocks and try to sell them. I prefer to show people what they are getting whether they are given or sold. If your thread gets too long for everyone to scroll through it let me know and maybe I will try to sell them. You picked a bad day to show a lack of appreciation for the time I spent. Jim

I was gonna say earlier that you are being nice enough to donate this months prize and he's b*tching about it.
Decided not to, but I did find that rather rude.
Nice slabs BTW, especially like the lysite.

It was the way Carleton always did it unless he had a larger box. Just trying to keep things similar as some people have started pming me about the minor changes I have done. It is not to please I, but to please the majority is the goal. So long as we don't get complaints for others I don't really care... People seem to complain about actions anyway (including resurrecting this contest and my themes thing).
On second thought, I think current and future prizes should be photographed in a manor like that... or similar to yours @wampidy. So long as at least 1 person agrees.
I do realize how long it takes to get nice photos and appreciate your time. I just don't like having the hate pms for resurrecting Carleton's contest.

I absolutely can't imagine anyone here sending you "hate" PMs about restarting the cab contest!
seriously??
copy & paste one here - leaving out the name of the sender. Love to see one.
F' what people think Glenn. You are doing a good thing here. Some of the theme stuff is kinda goofy, but that's just my opinion. Since I don't enter, my opinion doesn't count.
ETA: Take an English course. Or three.

@wampidy At first I thought you were entering them in the contest, then I read captbob response and these are donated slabs. Thanks for the generosity! glennz01 you gotta chill some times dude. I know you want to feel like you're in control, but this isn't that serious nor should it be strict. If there's cash money on the line and it's a good amount for a contest, then sure, have some rules. But the fact that you're harping on some multiple pics being posted....man that's not cool. Let it be and if in doubt, unplug your keyboard. People, including myself, come to this board to see pictures and lots of them. I post sometimes, but I read and read and read and look at pictures more. I try and give it a thumbs up so people know I'm still around and not just coming on to post my cabs or ask for advice. We all appreciate you taking over the contests, but commenting on every little thing may push these people that are being generous with slabs and rough away. glennz01 how about a good faith gesture and add some of your finds to the pot for the winner?

Screw what people think and lay off the goofy stuff (like 1-month to vote - our attention spans aren't that long). Set up a contest that makes sense and that you feel good about managing and run with it. I think you are over-thinking it and letting yourself get caught up in trying to make the contest perfect for everyone.

As for added to the pot... well I just paid for college so I have a loan to pay back sadly.. This is my last year and classes next semester won't be as costly (only 7 credits to go after this coming semester ) As for what that person pmd me, if you really want to see I will pm you... I took a pic since its easy to crop the names out with this website layout.. I will pm you captbob.

glennz01 I know how loans work and they get deferred when you're in school. So you cannot afford a SFRB which costs less than $6 to ship, but yet you ask for high amounts of money for your rock boxes? Skeptical hippo is skeptical. I didn't come on here to fight or anything, but you pulled the "pay back student loan" card and I know you're not paying anything back while still enrolled.

Its not a student loan, its a loan from my parents... i'm still going to be working while in college. As I said before I may not be able to do boxes for some time.. in the future I will be doing a box though.

Thanks for the thumbs up all. I have a lot of things that I will never use so I have no problem with doing it again in the future. Doesn't come close to what I have gained from this site.
@tbyrd awesome cab in your avatar. Jim
