Jerry Jeff Walker has no bad friends. Well he does but even the bad ones are good musicians. Alas I left Austin, Texas about the time that those guys got popular and were readily available to even those that were not hanging around in honky tonks with belt buckles the size of hubcabs. Have you tried Towns Van Zandt, David Allen Coe, or , yes, Ry Cooder. They blend a bit more toward the rough side of Texas music or real music in the latter case, but are worth a listen. I'm preparing for a long road trip and you have jogged me to include a few of the old favorites in the play list for the usb thumb stick. Tom

And for non-blues, non-country Texas music, I also enjoy the Butthole Surfers.
