I had a scrap piece of fordite that this shape on the template fit perfectly so I tried it. I was thinkning all along that it would be too difficult to groove wrap so I wanted to make it a standard cab. I guess it slipped my mind and before I even realized it I had cut the groove while doing some other cabs. Now that it is done I really like it. It was a bit more challenging though. wrapped these other ones at the same time self collected flint ridge self collected pudding stone (from last weekends finds) Chuck

The Puddingstone seams seamless at the junction of the jasper and the quartz(ite). It is a real unusual cab.
Fordite is a show stopper.

That's a really nice puddingstone! Is the Petoskey one that I picked up?

That's a really nice puddingstone! Is the Petoskey one that I picked up? Nope that one was just in my pile of so-so stock. Yours were better but I plan to leave those as polished nodules for awhile rather then chopping them up. The pudding stone gave me a fit that day. Took three tries to get one pendant. First one broke at the trim saw and second chipped at the groove grinder. ruined two really nice pieces. Chuck

That's one of the things I hate about puddingstone. It's always breaking at the seams for me.

That's one of the things I hate about puddingstone. It's always breaking at the seams for me. luckily I had a few backup pieces cut That would be really frustrating if you bought a nice slab on ebay and didn't get a cab out if it though. Chuck

Woah, your pudding stone cab and wrap is groovy! Love the almost clear matrix in the cab. Congrats on your success with a new groove wrap shape - the fordite cab and wrap are perfect, as always.

Great work, Chuck! Yes, I DO like that squareish shape. Are the corners tough to do? I found them hard to do when I tried to groove wrap tight corners.
I'm loving the Fordite, of course, but that puddingstone is top gem! Love it!
