NOTE-- I have just been notified that my server is down. If you can't see all the pictures, that's why. Sorry. I was reading the thread by Drummond Island Rocks when I realized that I had a shimmering gem bone, too. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/71695/shimmering-dino-boneI kept catching a glint for this little scrap and it wasn't until I cabbed it and got a real close look that I saw what was happening. To me, this is real special as I haven't seen this before. In the light areas, the some cells are replaced with something similar to feldspar or whatever. They shimmer when turned just right. Also, in the red area, there are teeny tiny flecks of hematite or pyrite. You can't see them unless magnified, but they give the whole area a "richer" look.

Need to upload video instead of pics so we can see what you're talking about! Believe it or not, it was easier to see in a snapshot than a video. I got just the right picture. The effect is not real outrageous, I just thought it was pretty cool.

FUN FOR SURE!! To say that your dino-bone is fun, needs some explanation. It sure would be FUN if it was MINE and not yours!
