Got my farm listed w/Pinewood Studios as a film site a month ago. They pay well Pinewood executive sends a note: "Hi Jim, Thanks for connecting us with another great piece of property. Do you also need the representation contract? We can send along after you've filled out the listing and image release form? I just sent photos of your property to a location manager scouting for a large film. She seemed intrigued, so I'll keep you posted. I promise to get to the property either this week or next! I hope your'e doing well."

Billy Redden, "The Banjo Boy," has never played the banjo. He was picked strictly for his looks, never got paid.

Jack away bsky4463. Some entertaining additions. I see an anxious cast in the making. Deliverance 2, "Western Boys Visit Appalachia" ha ha ! They bulldozed the local mall 10 miles from the house; yet another one. Atlanta Metro Studios, proposed layout on 90 acres:

Mr James, is that Shannon Mall ? Shannon Mall is a giant new concrete slab Sir Frankie. Concrete crushed and mixed from the remains of Shannon Mall. Shannon Mall is no longer in existence.

So...How much did that good old boy Arthur Smith give Billy Redden and Mike for making him rich and making his song so well known?

Wow ! That place has never had any luck. A close childhood friend of my father-in-law had this land. The first time the land was made ready to build a mall on and some contruction was begun. I think the land at that time sold for $ 250,000. The developers stop doing anything to the property and friend got the land back for zero dollars. Several years later, the friend again sold the land and got several millions dollars for it. So now a third time, no mall. Not a surprize to me. The place was really run down and scary to visit. I have not been there in 20 or 30 years.

Sounds like your buddy made out very well. It did become a scary spot. The neighborhood there is still rough around the edges.
