Well after a month in the hospitals...Minot,North Dakota and air lifted to the St. Paul,Minnesota burn center..Travis is finally home!
This young buck went through hell and back and is so happy to be home again!!
His wreck with a "Razor" ATV and about an hour from losing his life(he was pinned under it for 7 hours)(Farmers found him)!!!
Here is his first few days in the hospital....Kidney's had shut down,no feeling in his left arm,at all!!!
He is giving the OL'Man the thumbs up! Heck of a Trooper!
His G/F stayed with him for a week or so,than I flew out to St. Paul to be with him for a week...
The smile on his face as I walked into his room was priceless!
In the first few days I was there, the Nurses said the changes in Travis were at 100%.....
He started working with them, getting his strength back, walking, eating and whatever they wanted or needed from him to get healthier...
His kidneys came back and are at a 100%!!!!
His 1st day around the block with the Nurses....
The last days there were tough on him too,the graph's had to be done with taking them off his upper thigh, from the knee to his crotch area....
His surgery was scheduled for early morning, but was canceled out for an emergency surgery on another burn victim..
He knew why and everything, but he jumped into tears and looked at me and said,"Dad,I just want to go home"!
What do you say or do after that! You grin and bare it!
The next day his surgery was completed,he was in a lot of pain for a day and a half....Said it felt like a cheese grader peeled his skin away!
My time there was staying with him 24/7..They had a small cot for me to nap on...It was worth every bit of that time too!
My days being with my son in the hospital were coming to a close.....It was a bitter sweet compromise for me....I would be missing my son laying in the hospital and was missing my wife Tammy!!
I knew Travis only had a couple more days in the hospital,so that helped out some...
I left on a Wednesday,Travis was checked out Saturday morning....
They fitted him with a travel sling,so he could fly home....His brother Garrett met him at the airport in Minot,ND-than an hours drive to his home....
Travis said the day kicked his ass,but was well worth the energy and pain!!!
This photo says it all!
Welcome home Son,it's been one hell of a ride-now start recuperating and rehabilitation...
God's not done with you yet!!!!
