Could anyone please tell me what this is. I know one thing it's a really hard material because it's takes me forever to shape & polish it. Thank you very much!!

Donnie, it looks a lot like the Turkish rainforest jasper I got from Scott @shotgunner. Where'd ya git it from? Jean

Looks a lot like some of the plasma agate I've collected. That wouldn't typically explain the above average hardness though.

Listwanite would be my guess. I find material nearly identical to yours just north of me in some rivers of the Cascade foothills. Extremely hard stuff. Tricky to find "in the wild" due to its thick yellowish rind. Only the very centers exhibit a nice green color.

Had a much darker green surface, until I shaped it on the lap.

I'll throw this out there..... hydrogrossular (or was it grossular) garnet aka verdite. I had some, it took a similar shine and was really, really hard.

Thank you but no, on that one. I found verdite & that has a hardness of 3 & then I looked at hydrogrossular garnet, which is different. However the other stone I posted as an unknown in the cab section does bear a resemblance to the garnet. This particular stone does have a tendency to fracture along some of the fracture lines. Very much like working a hard agate. Could maybe be plasma agate. Here is a picture of Plasma agate on Pinterest.
