how we can have an RTH tumbling contest? I think it would be fun but have no idea how to make it work….as for everyone getting the same rock, who would judge, and what the winner would get. Anyone?

Interesting idea.
I think folks would have to pay to enter. Pay for the rocks and postage. As no one could be expected to supply the tumbling rough to all that entered.
We could vote as a group like with the cab contest. Otherwise, the tumbles would have to be mailed off to the judge.
Hard to judge in pictures though. Pictures don't do most high quality tumbled rocks justice.
Winner gets bragging rights!

I was thinking we would have to agree on what type of rock to use and maybe all buy from the same seller, either from a group member or online store. I agree pictures would be hard to judge. I wonder how costly it would be to mail several rocks in a small package to a member we choose to be a judge. Maybe all participants could chip in a few dollars and we could have a plaque engraved for the winner.

I remember wishing I had got in on that contest. I guess we would have to trust that everyone would follow the rules of the contest and everyone entering agrees to the rules. Maybe we have a member that sells tumbling rough and those who want to participate can buy the designated amount from them. |
