Music sometimes brings back memories. Saw these guys at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland on 6-12-80, about 3 weeks after I lost 2 dear friends and the playground of my youth in the big Mt St Helens eruption of May 18. St Helens erupted again that night, though not as explosively. Ash rained on us as we returned home. The deadheads among us may know that every performance they ever did was recorded at the sound board and often by guests as well. A local radio station plays those recordings every Saturday, and the newly rediscovered recording from 6-12-80 was played today while I was out in the shop fixing a saw. About the time the mountain was erupting they were playing this song.

Before he died he sent me this album with his new favorite song on it. I know you guys have to be sick of my Numan posts, but this song is so perfect. I always toast my brother when I hear this song. **sniff sniff**
