Hope there are lots of sphere people on here. And you will find sphere people won't sell their kit. Too hard to find. Motors alone harder to get than machines. I've bought every sphere machine offered here in the last 5 years. Both of them. Good luck in your quest. There is some gear on Craigslist for San Luis obispo.

The motors are the tricky part of the basic machine. Most use old ZEROX (or was the IBM) copy machine 107.5 rpm motors. What you need is a continuous duty motor that is relatively slow speed. Something close to that 107.5 rpm. And with enough strength to turn under the load you will be putting on it for a long time. Access to a welder (wire feed) would be super helpful. After that you will need to fashion cups for grinding and polishing. 2 basic methods of cups are those that use a grit slurry and those that use diamond pads. Here is a link to a big thread about sphere machines. Tons of info. here: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/48288/sphere-machine

If you get one I can supply you with a lot of material large enough to make some nice spheres. I like doing trades, material for spheres.

There has been an ad for a sphere making machine for sale on Wilmington's Craigslist (North Carolina) for a few weeks now. I don't know anything about the seller or their offerings. wilmington.craigslist.org/art/5128317857.htmlLarry C.
