It finally cooled down to 97F yesterday so I decided to head out to the desert. Hiked back up the mountain and backpacked down 80 pounds of copper ore including chyrsocolla, turquoise and some malachite. Also want to remind people to be careful when out there. Things happen. I took a wrong step yesterday and the ground gave way under me and went sliding down the mountain and almost over a small cliff. Luckily I was able to catch myself as I started to go over and managed to hold on until the rock slide still coming down behind me finished. So I only ended up with with some torn clothes and some scrapes on the back of both legs and one arm from the sharp limestone.

My rock hounding sounds like a walk on the beach compared to yours.

Yes. I often go alone. This time though I was within cell range and did have my cell phone with me. I don't know anyone who is willing to go out all day in that kind of heat. And if I don't have someone to go do things with I don't let that stop me. I used to do cross country bicycling by myself. I scuba dive a lot alone, I went to Iceland to backpack for 2 1/2 months alone, etc.

That's a nice mess of rocks there, kudos. Yup, watch your step out there. It seems as though when things go to hell they usually go there right now.
