Hello,
I'm just beginning to cab, so I'd like to practice on a wide variety of different materials. Someone in the cab forum recommended that I post here.
If someone has a small or medium box's worth of preforms, trim scraps, or slabettes they're willing to sell, I'd really appreciate it!
I do have limited access to a trim saw.

Do you have the means to mount them on a dop stick for cabbing?
After you get a few normal cabs under your belt and have the feel for it, don't try to force everything into a calibrated shape be it oval, round or rectangular. Look at the stone and let it tell you what shape it wants to be and practice doing some free form shapes. I find these much more rewarding (and sell better) than calibrated shapes.

I do dop my stones, because fingernails are useful to have.  Most of the cabs I've done have been free-form or free-hand - designing around the rock's pattern, shape, and internal features it the most satisfying part for me. 100% with you there! |

roy and tony are the best! I wouldn't hesitate on accepting their offers. I will send some preforms and one cab wonders, not surprised if some preforms are from roy and tony,s material mark.
