Did some fishing. target was a small naturally occurring hybrid bass called the Suwannee Bass, world record 3.89 pounds. Very aggressive fish and fights like no tomorrow. Swims fast shoals a lot so strong. Buddy Steve and plastic worm. Loser me catches prehistoric Bowfin Plenty of coral Very smelly coral bearing clay flow. Coral camouflaged, collected loose coral in the water washed out of the bank instead of digging the bank. Looks like wild asters and ferns growing out of said smelly clay. Coral from said clay

Not sure, never had a fish smell so strong. It is a bottom dweller, may eat not-so-desirables.

Mr James ! Here is how to cook a "bowfin". Get an oak board just a little bigger than the fish. Next have oven preheated to 350 degrees. Rub butter on the bowfin and make sure the top of the oak board is covered in butter too. Place in oven and cook for 1 hours. Remove and let the bowfin cool for 10 minutes. Next, throw the bowfin away and eat the oak board !

Hey James they call that a black fish around here, they can get really big. The old timers will tell you that the best way to eat a black fish was to catch some every day and feed them to the hog and eventually they tasted like sausage, bacon, and ham! LOL. Seriously they used them for feeding the hog! Hogs are opportunitarians, they will eat anyyhing!

You know Sammy knows how to tell a story Frankie. He is missed.

And then fight over eating the remains.

Mr James, the statement about Sammy Campbell's aunt cooking the bowfin, I remember him telling this years ago at one of the Campbell Reunions. You are right, he could tell some stories. Yes Mr Sammy is missed. I think all those Campbell's tell some good stories. I once caught a bowfin on with my flyrod. Thought I had a record bass on the line. It was the first one I had ever caught !

In North Louisiana they are called Grinnel. In South Louisiana they are called Choupique. A very cottony textured fish. I don't much care for them. Don't lip em by the way, big ol teeth lol.

He was assigned as one of Eisenhower's guards. He could play hard for his age.
