I dont know how to ask you all, but my step daughter is having the fight of her life after picking up flesh eating disease last weekend. It started small and progressed very quickly and is taking its tole on her leg at the moment. She has been isolated into ICU and we cant have any physical contact with her at this time. Specialists are coming in to try and stop the infection from spreading but not having much luck at the moment.
Please .... any thoughts or prayers would be appreciated if you could send them her way.

How scary and terrible! Yes, prayers will be given. I also hope that the family can be physically reunited. The healing power of touch can not be understated.

A short update....Mom is back up at the hospital as we wait for the infectious disease team to arrive this morning. 3 surgeries to remove blackened tissue but it hasnt stopped it yet and the antibiotics just dont seem to be helping her at this time, so they just keep increasing the strength. Biggest hardship for us right now is not being able not to physically touch or comfort her. The worst case scenario were told is they have to amputate the leg.

Her name is Heather,22 years old.

Payers and best wishes on their way. How on earth can one just pick up such a dreadful disease? We have had to trace back the days leading to when it was first noticed or when she first felt some pain. Three days prior to her noticing the pimple it looked like at the time, they were camping in BC and went swimming in my guess was black water. Same thought the Dr's are having at this time but also looking into a spider bite or bug? Still unknown what they are dealing with exactly. |

Jan... her spirit level is up today  ,fever has broke for now and it is Necrotizing fasciitis aka flesh eating. They have her on 3 antibiotics and due for more surgery.
