Can't see your photo cactusfire ... they need to be hosted off-site at photobucket etc. I think there are a few tutorials on here, including basic instructions at Welcome / Welcome to RTH.

My daughter found it when we were looking for petrified wood. We were about 15 miles northwest of Farson Wyoming

This past spring we revisited the root ball hole and today I got this one off the polisher. Sadly I can say that the hole is now empty. One without the reflections and my mitt.

My favorite pet wood is... all of them. I love doing woodworking, so finding and polishing pet wood is a great extension of that. There are so many gorgeous pieces in this thread. There isn't one that I DON'T love.
