You have some of the best wood I have seen around by a bunch. Also seems you have large quantities of that quality. Glad to see this thread brought to the fore again. C

I and a friend with more cab talents than I, have been playing with some small bits of opalized wood which I locally collected here in New Mexico. Here are two examples. Realize that the degree of opalization varies with some parts almost like raw wood, some highly opalized and even with some shimmer, and extreme color contrasts as you go below the surface. Here's the interior surface of a small piece. The dark rays appear to be tiny cracks that allowed the opalization to proceed further than in the tighter bound material. The light material is what we left of the bark surface and a scale to show the size we are working with. I'm anxious to go further with this material. An example of a specimen as extracted from the ground.

Did a trade with Roger a little while back and got a couple slabs of Turkish 'Cola Wood'. Pet wood with copper oxide inclusions. Neat stuff! Thanks Roger

This pet wood we found near my husband's job site! Was a lucky find! Lucky find for sure, happy dance for sure, dark for sure, little drusy, and free.. Pennies from heaven.. Didn't see anything for scale to tell the size.

A few years ago we found a root ball, highly opalized but the color and detail is hard to beat. Did this come from Stinkingwater?
