The two aren't really related, just happened at the same time pretty much. It's been hazy, smoky from all the fires north and west of us this summer and I know it's worse there because we've been through it ourselves. Wind changed a few nights ago and in the morning I walked out and took a picture. Hadn't seen blue sky like that in a while. The neighbors chopped the corn from the field behind the house, since then the sandhill cranes have been showing up there every morning for their breakfast. Generally a few deer out there with them. Finally got the garlic all sorted, graded, weighed out. Looks as though it will be all sold by Wednesday. One less thing to mess with. Biggest projects now are painting the house and splitting firewood. Hopefully I can get back to messing with rocks again soon. You all take care. Russ

Lovin it. Mountain a fire wood and sandhill jerky. Don't get better than that. All sold nowyo ? You grow garlic as a money crop ? Any creeks running through that corn field ? Arrowheads in it ?

Great pictures. I saw sandhills up in Montana and they are interesting birds with an interesting call. Distinctive to say the least. That blue sky pic is beautiful and I'll bet it's definitely a welcome sight after all the smoke.

Garlic is just for fun, mostly. Sell enough to pay for seeds and whatnot, new rototiller last year. Let's us do the garden for pretty much free. I like free food. Freezers are full. No creeks in that field, irrigation ditch on the north side. Artifact hunting here is a different deal than what you folks do down there. The few items I've found are no where near modern syphyllization. Rus

Gotcha nowyo. Fresh ripe on the vine better than money too. I was curious if you have to find artifacts at strategic locations. For instance, 50,000 acres of smokey mountains may have 2000 acres of flat fields. Those flat fields are about guaranteed artifact rich, every square foot.
