I did a few groove wraps a few years ago when I got my grinder, but I gave up on it pretty quick. Seeing all of Chuck's Drummond Island Rocks wonderful groove wraps and his generous tutorial made me try it again. I modified his tute a little for my working preferences, but it got me going in the right direction. Mostly, I think I was pushing too hard on the groove bit before, trying to get a deep groove with one pass. Patience, Grasshopper. You can barely make out some scribe lines on them that you can't really see in person, other than that, I am real happy with these and will probably do more groove wraps in the future. edited to add that these are septarian halves with the backs ground down. The faces were already semi polished when I bought them. Thanks for looking!

Wow, these are fantastic! I'm glad you gave them another shot. I get impatient like that when making slabettes, so I totally understand.

Very nice Tela. I have modified my process some from the tute as well after doing about a hundred of them. I would update the tute but it works as is and everyone can tweak to their preference much like you did.
I did one set of grooved earrings and they were a hit but I have not been motivated to try more (yet)

To me the groove wrap is PERFECT for earrings. It's why I bought the grinder.

that groove seems to be the best way to do earrings at least from my perspective you guys need to concentrate on them and get a stock built up
correct me if I'm wrong but a substantial stock of particular style seems to be the best for marketing ....

These look like flat top cabs. This style makes for very low labor cabs for earrings when using a vibe tumbler. Just grind the outside of the circle to the 220 galaxy wheel then toss them in the tumbler. Groove can be done after they come out. Could easily toss 20 pair of earring cabs at one time. This is an example of tumbled cab and groove cut after forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/68744/reversible-groove-wrapChuck

Seriously, all I have is a lortone 3a for wraps. I have never tumbled anything else. But, you could really crank out some earrings with one. Yes, those are flat tops. I bought them that way.

Forget that you saw these.... I'm taking them back to the flat lap. I can't stand those faint marks on the face. I shoulda known I wouldn't be able to! LOL! I'll post a couple of after pictures. I should get a better polish, too. Though, I never intended for these to be hi polished.
