I posted this in another section and was told it might be better to post it here:
I recently won an auction for an Ultra Tec V2 (Older model I think) faceting machine. I got it for a song and was wondering if anyone knows what it might be worth and if it is sellable. I got it to polish slabs but not sure if it works well for that or if it is more for faceting (I don't know anything about faceting stones) but I knew it was cheap for this type of equipment. I figure that if i could sell it and buy a nice flat lap, that would maybe be a better choice for me but i was looking for opinions on whether it is worth selling or not. Are people looking for used ones? I haven't picked it up yet but from the photos I saw it looks to be in excellent shape and has all the parts. Anyone know what it might be worth. it works and looks like it has all the accessories that probably came with it. Thanks

Ultra-Tec Faceting machines are made for precision faceting and are not build for the rigors of polishing slabs or cutting and polishing cabochons. There is a good secondary market for used Ultra-Tec faceting machines in good condition. Value would depend mostly on the condition and the production age.
If your interests are in other lapidary than faceting, and you would consider swapping the faceting machine for other lapidary equipment (Saws, Grinders, polishers, vibrating laps, etc.) I have lots of spare equipment to swap. I'll PM you my email address to discuss it if you are interested. Check your "messages" link at the top of the RTH page when you sign in to this site.
