Gas: My first car was a 1941 Ford with the "suicide doors." I was one of those "$1 a lick" guys when it came to gassing up. The price had jumped from $0.19 clear to $0.25/gal so it was a squeeze on the pocket book. Still, at 20 mpg = 80 miles before I had to worry about it again. 41 Ford One day on my way back from Barton Springs (Austin Texas) I ran out of gas. A LONG WALK! Barton Springs

I miss the Plymouth Barracuda I used to drive in college. Got such poor mileage that you could see the gas needle move when you stepped on the gas but man that was a highway cruiser of a car. I always felt like I was driving a futuristic spaceship. Definitely a chick magnet too....Mel

My favorite car of all time was a 1957 Chev 4 door (I had a family But I once raced a fellow worker on US 66 with it. I left him doing 125 mph!) I gave it to a couple of cousins that were down on their luck - They wrecked it out on the desert.Would love to have it back! Love those body by Fisher cars! Y'all got any tips for us numb skulls full of mush?

Man, the cars we left behind huh? I'm a huge fan of the 57 Chevy and the mid 50's Buicks too. Gal I knew had a Buick just like Burt's in WW and the Dixie Dance Kings except blue and white. Loved to ride in that car.
Barracuda was impressive to a gal I was dating that was into race cars. Fastest car ever souped up by the craziest drag racer at my old high school. And I'm not even a car guy and don't know crap about them. Monster hemi engine barely fitted under the hood, 426 I think or maybe larger, twin four barrel carbs, police transmission, black and silver. It went so dang fast it scared me and I thought it was gonna leave the ground. Sure sounded pretty though. Had to sell the dang thing cause my lousy job didn't afford me enough dough to gas it up and I needed the money to finish college *L*....Mel
