I just got back from Topaz Mountain Utah and collected some nice specimens. Did not know geodes could have topaz, but I found one. Half of Geode with best amber topaz Same half of geode from slightly different angle Very nice amber topaz gem in matrix Another example of amber topaz in matrix

amazing finds. I assume those are specimens to be left intact. Did you find any loose topaz to cut?

I will leave the pictured specimens intact. Although I did find loose amber topaz in the 1" range, they were partially sand crusted, and I am not sure what would be the minimum size for cutting. My friend digging with me found a vein with clean amber topaz specimens in the 1 - 1 1/2" range.

Nice finds! mateoj and I have been out to topaz mountain quite a bit and it can be tricky coming back with pieces intact on matrix. Nice to see you had success!

Nice! Our local club is planning a trip there in spring. Can't wait.
Also, Is that calcite with the topaz in the 3rd shot?
