Got this old tumbler from our club scrap pile , do not have model # or make ? Any way ,it spent a day in the parts cleaner after taken all apart. New pulleys , re-machined bearings , paint job , new rollers ( rad hose ) self designed drift guides , a $10 thrift store 1/2 hp. motor . Runs great ! Got 10 lbs. of stones grinding away Thanks for looking .............Gary

Now that is a nice score! Barrel looks like a Thumler's 15 pound. Was it red when you got it? If so, you can get new lid gaskets at the Rock Shed when you need one. The holes in the one side may have been for a handle? The Thumler's 15 doesn't have a handle. What are the dimensions of the barrel? Could it be a 40 pound barrel? That's a seriously nice and well built set up! Gonna be going through a lot of grit with that baby. What is the RPM? Welcome to the forum.

I filled it 2/3 full stones weigh about 10 lbs. Using pulley size calculator I have it turning 31 rpm . Stones tumbling sounds right. Too slow ?? Thanks ............. Gary

Very nice resto, my compliments. One thing I did notice that bothered me a lot; that bolt sticking out of what appears to be a set collar just to the left of the belt. Serious safety hazard, if you or some of your clothing got caught on it, likely the result wouldn't be good. Make it shorter to flush, or put a setscrew in the hole.

Solid work, that looks great! What kind of rocks are you grinding? There is no way the wing nuts on the lid will catch on the drift guide/washers right? My barrel looks very similar but must be smaller(12lb I think). What are the measurements of your barrel? I'm new to tumbling so I'm still trying to figure out the best rpms myself. Right now I'm spinning at 39 rpms with the same barrel design and just by listening to it I feel I may need to slow it down a bit. 31rpms might be the perfect speed. 26 seemed slow

The wing nuts did hit outside guide , But being inventive I moved them to run on the inside rim , I also added a thick plastic washer ( no metal to metal contact ) no squeaking . Barrel is 9" dia. checked the agate and jasper today, looking good . One more week then on to 250 grit , using 10 tbs. grit slurry looks right. There's a pulley / belt calculator from google that gives rpm. with all different combo's of pulley dia...........Gary

I knew about the bolt, didn't have set screw at the time . Had to move the drift guides to inside as well, replaced the bolt with a proper set screw. Thanks again sharp eye ................Gary

This is how my drift guides are set up on the tumbler I bought I have the same barrel as you and just realized that I have a 15 lb barrel! Looks like a thumler's model B. I haven't been using enough grit because I just used a pre measured amount from the rock shop for 12lb tumblers:/
