Jim, please don't take my posts as criticism, that certainly wasn't my intent. Often simpler is better. The axiom "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind. It's just that I am, and always have been, an idea guy. Most anything I look at I over analyze. There is the possibility (which I considered) that your sales are right where you would like them to be. Increasing sales may be more work for you than you care to put into this. Conversely, it's Fall and the cool seasons are here. Prime fire pit sales time and cooler for you to be outside doing such work. Strike while the iron is hot kinda thing. My opinion(s) are truly irrelevant, but that seldom keeps me from putting them out there! - it's a gift! I have no problem with your title. It's boring and uninspiring, but that doesn't matter. It is recognized. Craigslist allows the user's search word(s) to include the description, so key words needn't be in the title. My earlier posts were to simply point out your lack of use of key words IF you were interested in gaining more exposure. Anyone looking for a fire pit is going to find your listings. The suggestions of including more key words was to bring your listings to areas where the searcher IS NOT looking for a fire pit. Kinda going for the impulse buyer. - That's not the right term I'm looking for... to have those looking at related items see your product and think "that's cool, hadn't thought of that, I could use one of those, that would make a great gift". I can't emphasize enough how important I think the lid to create a table/bench is. VERY few women are going to find an open fire pit attractive when it's not in use. I can just hear: "I don't want that ugly thing in MY back yard!" being whined through out the metro Atlanta area. Make it a rustic table... and voila! Thinking that adding words like - patio, backyard, grill, lawn furniture, outdoor, cook out, barbecue, etc etc would so vastly increase your views that it would be insane. Probably talking multitudes of thousands additional views per month, easily in the tens of thousands with creative use of key words. Granted, the majority of people stumbling across your listing when not searching "fire pit" will move on. But for some, it will plant a seed. Again, it depends on if you want more work for yourself or not. Another "idea guy" thought (I usually charge five bucks for ideas, but that's another story) ... RVs Yes, motor homes. Most have under storage. One of your small pits would easily fit in such a storage compartment. Those RV types may be the type that would like a fire pit. Maybe one that can do double duty as a grill or a table. Can't be too heavy, most of 'em are geezers! (waiting...) Anyway... just thoughts and I need to get to work around here.

While deer hunting this morning a $580 sale came in from CL. 41 inch hemisphere, heavy joker.
Saw two does, then two more does, and then a lightning bolt running fast. Probably a buck chasing a doe. Just now entering 20 days of rut. Time to be in the woods.
"I would like to purchase your largest and deepest fire pit (hemi). We live in milton/Alpharetta area outside perimeter off of 400 (Haines bridge exit). What's the largest one you make in that version and how much is that and then where is a good spot to meet for you. I have a Toyota Sequoia Suv so I think it might fit in there.... If not I do have a trailer. Thanks for your help."

Paying close attention and very thankful for your input. Asked the wife to read it too. Not interpreted as criticism, far from it captbob. Am recuperating from a rash of sales. Next years inventory will be welded up and ready for season. Ads scrutinized and your suggestions carefully looked at.*(emphasize)* Oddly, Etsy outsells CL 3-4 to 1. Another place that needs ad scrutiny. Serious Florida words like- patio, backyard, grill, lawn furniture, outdoor, cook out, barbecue, are excellent. Funny, the pits took off when I was welding up outdoor kitchen prototypes with sink, electricity, cabana roof and sound. Had to bump that project for now. I show it to pit people and they are very interested. Lots of welding on those, need a boy friday welder ha.

Wow Mr James ! Did not know you were having problems with the other barrel sellers on Craigslist. I just happen to see your add yesterday. Nice prices on the your fire pits too. Yes, your fire pits are much different than the burn barrels. Stupid was the other guy is doing. Sometimes - Stupid is as stupid does !

I do enjoy seeing the pictures of them that ol what's his name posts here from time to time. "May I have a puppy ?" That is a loaded question around here captbob. She has an application... Said application is rather uh, involved. Basic requirements: Section 3, Item 4.2, Sub paragraph 6.1 6 digit income 10 foot fence 10 acres of land Prefer gay or no kids so attention is given to pup Must sponsor pup and pay fees for professional handlers two bed rooms per puppy list of required high end food soft music in pups sleeping quarters sheep skin beds weekly nail trimmings no outside dog houses climate controlled quarters wool coats for colder climates perrier water no high traffic roads within 3 miles full rights to master bed pup must travel w/owner on all vacations pup must have a babysitter and not left alone Maybe I will ask her to retort on this matter. I will mention to her that you built a swimming pool just for your Rotties. I have seen many dog owners over the years, a dog swimming pool is truly a first.

Dear Captain Bob: Denise here. My dear husband would not pass muster on getting a puppy from me. He does not meet requirements and only has the advantage of living with wonderful Ridgebacks because he is lucky enough to be married to me. I remind him of this multiple times a day. Please keep watching out for me. Thanks, denise

That "quality over quantity" comment would be great in an ad! We have had the same situation here only with golf carts! I have watched 2 posters battle it out and one of the posters have regular tirades and complaints. Pet ads similar sometimes with lots of complaints, reporting and cross posts with comments. Antiques shops posting in the regular household categories brings howls too (from other resale dealers LOL).

People still seem to sell well on it. It's OK, lack of regulation better than over regulated. Getting ready to try captbob's souped up ads. Will plagiarize some of his suggestions...

November is historically a slow month for some reason. Etsy statistics mirror each other for 3 years running. Kinda uncanny. CL more productive in November for some reason, however it has rained everyday this first week. Effecting local sells. Will post addendums. Thanks for the suggestions. Built a little fire under me, needed to do this. Will be open to further suggestions. CL has no diagnostics like Etsy. Just have to watch sales and inquiries.

Check it out captbob: These are hand-made heavy duty industrial grade fire pits with feet welded to the end of each leg. Some have a threaded drain plug and can be used as a fire pit, water garden or planter. This is a "life time" fire pit that won't rust out - not some thin cheepo from the box store. We offer many configurations, heights, shapes and cooking options. Great Christmas gift. Enhance your patio, deck and backyard with a warm fire. Park the lawn furniture next to it. Enjoy it as a grill, have outdoor cookouts and barbecue. Perfect for a party. Keep the kids entertained, fine family activity. Fallen limbs do well as fuel, keeping yard picked up. Come visit us at the bamboo farm.

There are some 'looks' that have appeal. This particular one you posted may float some's boat. Am trying to target the suburbia folks, biggest market. This fellow would be my biggest competitor. Not sure exactly how things will go between he and I. He is only 12 miles from me. I know he is full time w/employees and a not well located retail spot. Works the festivals hard. I think the captbobs out there are armchair shoppers. They can make fair judgements at their laptop. Suppose I would do better w/a website, but websites can be tricky and often over rated if they are hard to find. S&S Fire Pits- ssfirepits.com/product-category/fire-pits/?orderby=priceThanks again for the efforts Bob.

I was being facetious about the link to the one with the charred boards in it. Looks rather hillbilly. I do like the legs on this one from that "fancy" website - ssfirepits.com/product/30-hemisphere-decorative/They are nice looking and probably wouldn't be hard to copy. Hope some key word usage helps bring in more lookers!

CL is wide open. Never knew CL uses the words in the description as keywords.

Gettin' there James!
You mention in your ad now "Enjoy it as a grill, have outdoor cookouts and barbecue.", but you don't show any of the bowls with a grill grate or just how folks are suppose to cook on the thing.
Also, those lids... don't mean to harp on 'em, but that's a gotta have option if you can. Making the bowl into a table is a game changer. Handles would also be a big plus if you can work them in - IMHO Web site guy doesn't offer lids/covers.
I'll shut up now.
