Forgot this little one. Clayton sometimes brings in these little walnut sized nodules with botryoidal formations. Can't hardly make them stay in the vice and usually I can get only a single slab or two. When they are plume they look just like Woodward stuff. Sure wish he'd pick up some big ones. Only got one slab off this one but it's a goody....Mel

Hey Mel it looks like the maples when they turn red in the fall in the Blue Ridge Mtns of Va! It's a perfect scene of mountains with ridges surrounding a holler!

Kinda makes you wonder how that got all the way from the Bird Mountains to the river!

Yep, seeing that the Uvalde Gravels can be a hundred or more feet thick, that big ole river must have really been something back in the pluvial periods. Seems to have gathered rocks from a huge area of both West Texas and Northern Mexico....Mel

Sabre52. Mel, that's one of the finest slabs I've seen in a long time. I got a bunch of Botswana recently that are hard to clamp. I'm going to cast them in grout inside a milk carton, then slab the grout. I'll leave the top two inches free of agate so I should get 100% of the rocks as slabs. It will probably make a mess in the saw though. Later
