We brought out the used Rocktumbler last night and started the Stage 1 process. I've wanted to tumble rocks for sometime but never got the grit. I think it is quite spendy. Any how my daughter is going to do a project on rocks and we thought we would take some of our rocks and smooth and polish them for the project.
The grit came yesterday the project is due on the 19th of this month so we got right to it (we'll get through stage 1). Learned a lot from RockTumbler.com but needed specifics for our used Rocktumber since it didn't come with anything except a few rocks that were leftover.
We have a new rocktumbler coming today that holds much more then the one we have and I think will do a much better job. We're going to start that one up tonight also. Our girl will have quite a few of stage 1 rocks for her project and then we will add some polished that we have bought from caves and MOA etc... for now. Just so everyone that visitis the expo project of rocks can see the difference.
Thanks for being here... couldn't have started our project with out this form.

Welcome to the forum. Grit is relatively enexpensive compared to most things related to lapidary. Always buy as large a quantity as you can as price per lb. reduces with quantity. Avoid the manufacturer's small grit kits.
