I got these done last night and when I was finished I realized my wire wrap storage rack is completely full and a quick count told me I have about 120 wraps stockpiled. This set will be my last groove wraps until I move a few. Hopefully lots of people shop Etsy for Christmas. Quick cell phone picture. If anyone wants to see closeups speak up and I'll take the time to post the DSLR pics. Chuck

The dino bone cabs were done 100 percent on wheels but all the rest were cabbed to 280 nova wheel then vibe tumbled. The bottom left one is my best cab from the material we collected in Ohio at flint ridge. Chuck

Nice batch! I always look and admire, but don't always comment. Like 'em all, what is the red one?
You had to know this was coming... I'd like to see the dryhead / teepee / ? on the right end.
AND..... I want to see that cab rack you made all filled up like ornaments on a tree!

No idea what the red rock is but here's the dryhead. My first odd shaped groove wrap. Chuck

Thank you. Is it harder to get the wire to lay in the groove if the stone is not round? Is the wire kinda pinched in the groove to hold it in place, or is it tight enough from the bail pulling it together?
That drusy looks like it's got a coating on it. That went through your tumbler too?
Sorry, probably too early for questions!

I press my wire into the groove as I go around with piece of wood and then I leave a gap at the bail and pull it all together really tight. The dryhead was tumbled with the others. no artificial additives. Chuck

I guess I'm asking if the wire would stay in the groove without the bail bringing it together. Just wondering how tight that groove is.

I guess I'm asking if the wire would stay in the groove without the bail bringing it together. Just wondering how tight that groove is. The groove bit is perfectly sized for the wire but it is not a tight fit. I always squeeze at the bail. Very important on circle cabs because that final squeeze clamps the wire around the rock so the whole wrap don't slide around the circle. This might be the best fit I have had and I really like the photo Chuck

Thanks for the explanation and examples Chuck. I don't cab, but when I finally get around to it I could see doing some of these groove wraps as I would never have the patience or find the time to do all that fancy wire wrapping I see here.
Been intrigued by your groove wraps from the get go. They look like even I could figure out how to do them and they present the stone beautifully.
