For those who have never seen an old growth Douglas fir tree. Makes my old tractor seem small.

The people across the road growing up had one about that size in their back 40. There were some really huge ones back in behind the old gas station/store a couple miles down from Spirit Lake, Mt St Helens took them out. Good to see there's a few left.

Hope it never gets cut. Come cut our southern pines that grow out in 20 years for lumber. Like a crop of corn. Gnarly bark on that rascal. It is woodman's tree, better ask if it is petrified... Maybe the tractor is a Matchbox ?

Maybe the tractor is a Matchbox ? It does make the tractor look like a matchbox toy. We have about 20 of them this size and have no plans to ever cut them, at least as long as I live. Would be hard to find a mill that could handle them anymore. This one is just a bit under 5 feet at chest height. Hard but not petrified, I don't think!! Would have to get a bigger drag saw if it was petrified.

Do you have a lot of acreage ? Or are these on a small lot ? Must be majestic either way.

Do you have a lot of acreage ? Or are these on a small lot ? Must be majestic either way. We got 10 acres. Had 5 and the 5 with the trees came on the market and we bought it to keep someone from falling the trees and planting a house right next to us. I had a verbal agreement with the late owner of a first refusal offer, and his son honored it and we could not pass it up.
