Howdy folks, Two more from the soap bath. Thanks for looking.....Mel This is just a kind of ehh typical gold moss. Probably half of the Rio mosses are variations of gold to brown moss agate. Solid material, but to a guy who cuts this many Rios, just not that special. Kinda sorta plumy stuff. I really like this one but if cabbed, all those darn vugs are problematic.

Ed, I only have a ten inch saw now so most of what I cut is small, maximum about 2 1/2" by 4". The gold here is about 1" x3", the red 2 3/4" x 1 3/4". I'll try to post sizes from now on...Mel

So something about this size (roughly speaking). That is just some neat rock to me...being able to see a 3-d object down in the rock...cool! Is the moss something akin to what I've seen termed "plume"?

Ed, Under magnification, many of the Texas moss types actually include or are constructed from tiny plume formations. Just not distinct enough or large enough to be termed what we rockhounds usually designate as "plume". The best multi-colored examples of these tiny composite plume formations are what we often call flowergarden agate. I have a pretty good one of those in the vice right now. First two slabs are in the soak right now and if it's sunny tomorrow, I'll try to take pics. Some moss though, is simply a composite of masses of filaments tiny tubes or sort of little puff balls of fibers...Mel
