interesting stuff neat video does sort of look synthetic which seraphin is... right? seraphinite is a natural product mined in Russia. The piece in the video is natural for sure. I should have videoed the other sides. I think you might be thinking of victoria stone. I wish that is what it was Chuck

Possibly wavellite. Definitely not seraphinite or victoria stone. Have you tested the hardness or streak?

Any thoughts on what to do with it. It is a cool shelf specimen but I was wondering if it would enhance it or ruin it to try to face grind/polish it? Here's a still shot of it Chuck

I used to hunt pyrophyllite back in Commiefornia but the color in your specimen does look more like wavellite. I think the pyrophyllite, though similar in crystal structure, was more whitish or creamy in color.....Mel

Don't think Wavellite would take a good polish. You'd probably start pulling crystals & ruin the whole piece. Just clean it with soapy water & a soft brush, and display it as is.

Actually, the cabs cut from wavellite are stunning. I cut some 7-8 years ago and don't remember any particular problems. However, each stone is different........ wavellite cabochons
