Howdy folks, Just a couple more for your viewing pleasure....Mel This one has to be one of the hardest, most solid agates I've ever cut, about 2 1/2 by 3" Another nice solid one about 2 x3". Guess I'd call this Flowergarden Agate. Got a couple of more slabs to take off of this one.

oooooh I really like that 2nd one! "This one has to be one of the hardest, most solid agates I've ever cut" How do you know, does your saw sound different when the rock is harder? Doing some cutting today, (facing a couple nice rocks I got in the mail this weekend ) and one rock sounds just like the next. maybe it's because the blade is still relatively new, (?) but that HP14 I got earlier this year doesn't seem to care what I'm cutting.

Bob, Yeah, I time my cuts with an oven timer and I haven't sharpened my blade in a bit. Cutting that first agate definitely was slower and noisier than usual. Time to make a cut or two through my grinding wheel!.
PS: Bob, if you really want to try your blade out and have any California petrified palm root, try that. *L* To me, big hunks of that stuff has always for some reason , been really a tough stone to slab. Have a friend who used to have a monster 36" drop saw for preforming giant spheres.. He had a monster hunk of root to cut and finnally gave up it was so difficult..Mel
