The key to keeping these contests successful is to keep the drama to a minimum and keep it professional. When I was running the contests, a member who shall not be named kept stirring up sh$t and ruining the spirit of the contest, so I handed off the reigns to Carleton to disengage from the drama and to give the contest a fresh start. This new generation of the contest seems to be riffled with unnecessary drama. People will quickly lose interest and stop participating if this continues. Glenn, you cannot dictate the winner. You cannot tell the winner what they should do with the prize. Your job is to simply facilitate the contest each month by creating the necessary threads e and if there is a prize involved which you have agreed to hold for the winner, you must relinquish the prize to the winner, despite any misgivings you may have. Keep your personal opinions out of it. Regarding prizes, I think the best approach is for the person offering the prize to be the person who mails the prize to the winner after the contest has run its course. I never really understood why a middle man had to be involved in the prize process at all. I run the contest over at the lapidary forum and we don't bother with prizes. It's a contest of artistic creation and vision, the prize is the satisfaction of winning. couldnt agree more.you mean to tell me that dude has the prize what the HE double hockey sticks does that look like?

This is a friendly contest. glennz01, as you said yourself, it's meant a challenge to do your best and to stimulate your creativity (if you so choose) by drawing on a theme for inspiration. In my opinion, whether a physical prize exists and how it is distributed is tangential, and pressuring people about it is bad sportsmanship. I'm offended that you would do that even if ostensibly on my behalf, especially since you took on the responsibility of contest moderator. Personally, I am so happy to see so many people participate. There are several people, @arrowheadave included, who turned in beautiful works that I would cheer for if they won. I know I turned in my best work, and I'm happy to have found a place to share it with people who appreciate the details, so that's my satisfaction. Please don't try to dictate other people's opinions, directly or indirectly (that goes for all y'all, and not just about rocks). I hope this unpleasantness doesn't permanently stop people from participating in future contests. Here's a cute puppy.

I have not participated before and maybe I see why? Don and micellular said it best! Sheesh y'all said it right. Glenn count the votes, find the winner and send the prize to that person. Glenn please, I beg you please try to behave like an adult! I apologize now but I will say it anyway, Glenn, whatever posts you get involved with all seem to have drama. You are the common denominator. Facilitate the contest, do your job, award a winner, rinse and repeat each month, don't f**k up this contest the cabs are works of art I like to look at them Ok Tom time to crawl back under rock. P.s. Yes I do know he does not really have to " count" the votes

couldnt agree more.you mean to tell me that dude has the prize what the HE double hockey sticks does that look like? I have the prize box ready to go when the winner is decided by the poll - as it should be. Glenn - chill out man. I get enough drama in my life without it finding me here.

I have the prize box ready to go when the winner is decided by the poll - as it should be. Glenn - chill out man. I get enough drama in my life without it finding me here. All I said is that if a winner thinks the prize should go to someone else or go to the next month, than it is up to the winner and donor to communicate that. nothing more. The only thing I won't stand for is when someone says something that isn't true about my actions or thoughts. I also said who I voted for.. I didn't say someone should or should not ____________, and i'm not sure how half the stuff got brought up that did. As someone once told me, calm down and re-read the posts. I'm not sure how a statement this simple gets skewed or turns into drama. I'm really lost on this one and I am calm when writing.

Voting time is drawing to a close - bump This is the most votes cast in a cab competition that I have ever seen! Thanks to all the cab makers for the great show. And a huge thanks to Tommy ! I think the prize made the contest.

Just as long as the winner knows that they can give the prize away all is good with me. Ya, I am the guy that pushes the red button that says "don't push"
