This is a tough contest. I started out with six I wanted to vote for. Honing it down to one was hard.

I'm just hoping that My situation resolves itself very soon. If It doesn't I'm not sure what to do as I have too much rocks and equipment let along my other stuff to fit in a single room apartment. |

Is this thread supposed to be so far back.i thought they get bumped to the top automatically.i think other contestants cabs are not getting viewed.

Dave A photo of all the cabs entered is in the first post so it is hard to say... but if you do win and think someone else should have been the winner you can award the prize to them by posting. You could also say you would like it to go to the next months winner. It is all in the winner's hands. This theme was all "trial" or old or new materials that people havent worked in a long time or haven't had any experience on at all and voters should know that.. as well as look at all the cabs before choosing. |

Man captbob you couldn't have said it better.he actually had the brass to PM me and tell me that he thinks MIcellular should win and if I win I should relinquish my prize to her.not his exact words but what he wanted to say.if I enter a contest I'm trying to win it,and the prize.ii know who i WONT be sending any sla d bs too if I win.you need to step up your game Glenn,get off the pitty pot

As for what captbob said, well I might just be the only crazy person if I won when I didn't think I should. I know how much work micelluar put into her cab which is why If I won, I would award it to her.. We all put in hard work but she did something that not even I would probably do... It shows a lot of dedication. Everyone has their own opinion on who should win though... thats why it is a contest. |

The key to keeping these contests successful is to keep the drama to a minimum and keep it professional. When I was running the contests, a member who shall not be named kept stirring up sh$t and ruining the spirit of the contest, so I handed off the reigns to Carleton to disengage from the drama and to give the contest a fresh start. This new generation of the contest seems to be riffled with unnecessary drama. People will quickly lose interest and stop participating if this continues. Glenn, you cannot dictate the winner. You cannot tell the winner what they should do with the prize. Your job is to simply facilitate the contest each month by creating the necessary threads e and if there is a prize involved which you have agreed to hold for the winner, you must relinquish the prize to the winner, despite any misgivings you may have. Keep your personal opinions out of it.
Regarding prizes, I think the best approach is for the person offering the prize to be the person who mails the prize to the winner after the contest has run its course. I never really understood why a middle man had to be involved in the prize process at all. I run the contest over at the lapidary forum and we don't bother with prizes. It's a contest of artistic creation and vision, the prize is the satisfaction of winning.
