How much a pound are you paying for sugar James? That sure is a nice slurry........... Wife says $5 for 10 pounds which is 22 cups. Little less than 50 cents per cup. So 50 cents for 14 pounds of rock for AO 500. If Sic 220 is run in vibe, then another cup for 14 pounds rock. I like the sugar because it takes a cup of water and rarely dries out. The AO 500 usually goes 3 days with no water additions with sugar. The sugar dissolves out of the pits in the rocks even if it does dry out, Borax not so easy. But I do a final 12 hour polish with Borax, and have to add water every 4 hours in most cases. Because my vibe runs hot. Borax as good as it gets to zap a final polish. And the Borax removes the sugar since it is a detergent. If you ever have let Borax dry out on a load of near finished rocks you have a mess. Bright white crap packed in every crack and fissure. Pressure washing rocks individually may remove it.

So you use 2cups of sugar in 220grit? I want to see you do a washout! 1 cup for 500 and 1 cup for 220 Jimi. And for that matter, 1 cup sugar for SiC 30 or SiC 80 and AO 1000. That polyurethane liner does fine with even SiC 30. Have run 1.5 cups in most of those grits too, you just have to add more water. And more often for coarse gris. 1.5 cups of sugar with 1.5 cups of water will run for 4 days without adding water when doing AO 500 run. Lazy lazy It is just making a granular sugar based syrup. Nothing fancy. And user friendly. Just make sure the final polish is done with Borax.

broseph82Cleanouts are performed with fresh water 'seaweed' harvested from swamp habitat It is fairly abrasive and free from grit contaminants Clean outs performed on ACME #2 clean out table, pat. pend. And the white Acme #3 clean out sifter for the Viking, also pat. pend The load, about 5 pounds of agates and 9 pounds of filler quartz, remember these. Some fine stones and thank you.

jamespYou're making me want to get a vibe. Never tried one. I've always used rotaries. That's a nice looking batch. I can't wait to see the finished product. Later Brent

jamespYou're making me want to get a vibe. Never tried one. I've always used rotaries. That's a nice looking batch. I can't wait to see the finished product. Later Brent That vibe sits around dormant waiting for the coarse grindings of 4 rotary barrels form 15-25 pounds each Brent. I run SiC 30 in coarse. If you let the last 30 grit coarse charge run like 12-14 days and break down the vibe will put a wet shine on them in 2-3 days with 2 tablespoons of AO 500. Used to do 7-10 days 220, 7-10 days 500, 10-12 days in polish in the rotary=3-4 weeks vs 3 days in the vibe. Maybe 4 days if a 14,000 polish is run. So 30 days vs 4 days. Granted, a 14 pound vibe. But a 4-6 pound vibe would still keep up with those 4 barrels. With these, an SiC 220 was run in the vibe since these were pulled early out of SiC 30 and the 30 did not have a chance to break down long enough. Softer than Mohs 7 usually requires more vibe time, so that is a different situation. Agates, wood, garnets, easy doins.

Any update on your home grown vibe? I have been kinda busy to get around to that one. It's not going anywhere. Scott, is it easy to braze those diamond segments to plain carbon steel ?
