Glad to see the leaves being "recycled". When it warms up you can also use the leaves to grow some mushrooms such as king stropharia, which are large edible mushrooms.

A friend who worked in town and lived out a ways used to put an ad in the paper offering to pick up bagged leaves. He fenced off an area of his place every fall and put 3-4 feet of leaves on it. In the spring he worked the area up and planted new pasture grass, had a great pasture for his cows.

Amazing how small they compost to. When I first started gardening 42 years ago,I would pull a trailer in the woods and shovel the 2- 3 inch thick leaf mold that accumulated over the years. Then, the damn hogs came in and rooted up every square inch, digging up shallow roots and all, couldn't even get a shovel full without hitting roots.Thats when I started making my own. snuffy

Huge piles left by the timber guys. Piles end up being a few inches tall. The hogs must be getting bugs and grubs. They probably fluff the mold and it dries and blows away. Hogs 100% trouble.
