Easy, cut divot in top, pack with butter, cover with saran, heat 5 minutes. Best with Vidalia onions

They sure are handy Ed. Potatoes darn good too, plus what you mentioned. Add frozen veggies. Must try the garlic tip, can't have enough garlic.

Ed, I've baked garlic cloves before (they are excellent!), but you can microwave them, too.
This is a terra cotta baker, sells locally for about $10. They ship, too. You can find them just about anywhere.
Normally used in the oven, but for you aficionados of microwave cookery, they work there, too.
Soak terra cotta dome in cold water for 15 minutes, cut garlic to expose clove tops and remove loose skin from garlic, cover dome and place in a cold oven, bakes at 325 to 350 for 50-60 minutes or in microwave for 5-6 minutes on medium. Hand wash without soap.

In the divot add butter and a half cube of beef bullion (whole cube if onion is LG) Absolutely wonderful. And yes, Vidalia onions are best.

Heh! This is not good bedtime reading! Shouldn't go to bed hungry --- even if only all of a sudden!
Will try all these ideas soon. Microwave good.

It sounds delicious! However, butter disagrees with me. Wonder what else I could put in there?

It sounds delicious! However, butter disagrees with me. Wonder what else I could put in there? garlic as Ed mentioned, or I would try Greek seasoning. Olive oil should not burn. I believe canola oil is another that takes heat. There is so much moisture you really don't need an oil. Not bad with a bit of salt and black pepper. You can always do a 1/4 onion for a small scale test Pat. If you like them browned(caramelized), you can brown it in a frying pan after microwave cooks it. Then you will be addicted.
