It has become an annual tradition each year at Christmas time to take some of my Etsy money to buy myself some nice tumbling rough as a year end bonus. My son keeps reminding my that it has been a long time since we have done any quartz and crystal batches so I placed a nice rock shed order. After four years of tumbling I still think the rock shed has some of the best and most reliable rough around. keep your eyes peeled for these to be polished in the coming months. Bahia agate, mexican trias agate, mexican lace agate, rutilated quartz, smokey quartz, citrine quartz, rose quartz, amethyst and I always have to get 5 pounds of mixed rock with each order. Got a cat recently and she sure likes to be involved in all my rock doings. Never had a cat before but they sure are nosy buggers. Chuck

Wow, you went all the way with the quartz. The Mexican lace sounds like the most fun to me. I can't wait to see it finished.

I ordered that mexican lace agate because of the batch you posted last year. I also bought two pounds of the mexican trias agates. It is listed under crushed tumbling rough but it is whole nodules and I only got three of them for $20. Looks like they are a real gamble because many are duds and just quartz filled. Has anyone here ever ordered these? looks like a 50/50 shot at getting a good one? Chuck

neat cat ! what did you name it? my first childhood cat was all black named midnight.. My kids named her Zola. I think it was a combination of two names they came up with. She's a rock licker. She always checks out the rocks each week during my tumble clean outs. Chuck

I'm a rock licker too. I met another guy on the beach this summer while looking for agates. He was licking every rock. I commented that I'm a rock licker too. He told me that the first time he licked seagull poop off a rock, he puked. I haven't had that experience yet.

Nice Christmas present. I've never been disappointed with any of the Rockshed's rough. Recently I got some of their South Dakota, Desert, and Picture Jaspers along with some Mozambique Agate. All are really nice and are tumbling just as nice. Had to get some of the mixed rough too. It's always fun to go through the mixed bags, never know what you'll find. like a rockhounders Christmas. Our cat likes to help me with my rocks. He's not such a good helper though. He once laid in a bowl of polish that was being reclaimed. Another time he dug a couple pounds of 80 grit out of the flat rate box it was in. Didn't use it as litter thankfully. I don't let him help me too often.

Its sucks that shipping to Canada is so high, well when shipping rock! Other wise I would get me some tumbling rough. Actually its my own fault have actually been in the Rock Shed the past two summers! Got grit and some cutting rough, never thought of tumbling rough. Now our dollar sucks so bad against the US greenback that buying anything in the US is tough.
I still will be going back to the Black Hills this summer in search of the elusive Fairburn, but won't be able to stay as long? As it sits now it costs me at least $1.40 CAN for every US buck. Doesn't help your country out either:(
Just realized I am rambling, time to hit send, have a super day folks.

That looks like a great batch! Looking forward to seeing how they come out. One of my cats always "helps" when a box arrives. They are very nosey!

I have a bunch of their rough sitting in the garage that desperately needs tumbled. I'm hoping to re-kindle the fire here next month, that Trias stuff is interesting. Like Mel said, I love the Bahias. My favorite thing to do is cut the banded nodules in half before I tumble them so the inner pattern is always seen. I may need to get a bunch and a bunch of that Trias and do the same thing.
Good luck, great gift to yourself!
