I just pulled a batch of quartz, or rocks that I thought were quartz, from the tumbler. These were self collected from Lake Huron and Lake Superior. I think this stuff is quartzite. It's fairly common around Alpena on some beaches. These are sort of boring, but they're so white I can't help but pick them up. This one's sort of mossy. I don't think this is quartz. It might be some sort of banded iron formation. I've found these before. The look sort of like tiger eye. The other side is different. This is what gives quartz a bad name.

Not sure what the orange speckled ones are but I have a bunch too. Not sure if I collected them on Drummond or down at Lakeport state park but they are both Lake Huron beaches anyway. I have some large ones of those that have been slabbed and cabbed.
I like the yellow ones in your third picture best.
