Awesome gift That is very pretty stone. I haven't had your luck with the Rhodes Kscope and will be looking forward to seeing what you make with it

Stunning material. I often have some of his auctions on my eBay watch list, but the prices usually go pretty high and I have yet to pull the trigger on adding some to my collection. I don't cab, so it would just be for a specimen display piece and justifying the cost for something that would probably end up on a shelf in my garage hasn't happened so far. Although, I often spend more on less beautiful rocks. Really ought to get that display chunk - maybe in 2016!
Please post your creations!

On FB they usually sell boxes anywhere from 15lbs-30lbs and sell for $11-12/lb and up and they half shipping in a FRB. Probably cheaper than the bidders on eBay.

Yep picked up a slab earlier this year off FB and wasn't too bad.

I sure do like the Kscope jasper - have a few pieces myself but I'm waiting for the rock to tell me what to do; slab, cab or leave as specimens with a nice polish. It doesn't last long on Brian's FB page.

azgnoinc I thought they were based out of Utah? There is an ebay seller whom the Rhodes have been trying to get to quit using the name they came up with- the real stuff comes out of Prineville, OR from the Rhodes claim - as for price- it depends on color & variety as with anything else - the 1.25lb end cut sister slab to the one above with the cool blues went for $56 on ebay - I got the 9lb'er above through the FB page.

That's crazy for just 1lb unless you have people lining up for you work. Yeah on FB I've seen the prices as low as $6/lb or so too... The kscope claim out of Utah is kaleidoscope agate and not jasper from the research I've done. The kscope Jasper looks better

The Kscope from Utah is also know as "Utah Prism Jasper", a much softer material but very pretty in it's own right. Here's an example from my collection;

"..The stone in question is not an Agate. an Agate will scratch at least a 6 on the mohs scale whereas the Prism only scratches a 3.5. It is very soft and falls apart easily. The mineral composition is mainly Amethyst, Chryascolla, Fluorite, very little malachite and azurite."
This was a quote from the K-scope page on Ebay.
