I'd been wanting to try this for a long while and with the arrival of cold and snow I was pretty much forced inside. Decided it was time to go ahead and try this. It would probably go better to start with something simple and flat first, but where is the fun in that. I'm sure it would also go better to actually kind of have a plan instead of just throwing stuff at it - which is what I did. For a first attempt I guess it's not too bad. Thanks for looking. Russ

Is that stained glass? Or rock soldered together like stained glass? Cool whatever it is.

The candlelight looks really nice in that.

It's rock slabbed a little thin, polished on both sides and then assembled like you would with stained glass. Fun little learning curve.

A friend in the local rock club has been making lampshades with thin cut midnight lace obsidian. He takes the slabs to 1000 grit in a lot-o vibe then only polishes the outside. The satin polish on the inside works like a frosted light bulb and makes the entire shade glow.

Very cool idea Russ! I've been interested in making things that combine wood and stones. This is sparking some much needed brain activity!!!
