My buddy Bob is trying to get out of the trucking business after way too many long hours, weeks & months on the road. He has gone into a partnership with another guy and opened a rock shop on the outskirts of Billings, Montana. There are a few others on the forum who have met Bob, and I think they would all join me in vouching for his honesty.

BUT it is a tough business to make a living at. People have to eat, but they don't have to buy rocks.
Way too many people in the eating business, but at least they don't starve.

It's a buyers market right now Dave. Almost every day they have people coming to the shop with buckets & boxes of rocks to sell. When's the last time you heard of someone buying a 5 Gal. bucket full of Montana moss agates for $5.00 ? People are hurting in this economy, and are practically giving away choice cutting material, just to make a few bucks. This is in addition to the ton oor so of material Bob brings back every time he returns home from his trucking job. He has his own secret collecting sites in almost all of the lower 48 states. GPS locations are stored on his computer. Once we get rid of Obama & the economy starts to turn around, they'll be well stocked with choice cutting material to sell.
Did I mention that Bob located a new location for Biggs jasper ? Only he knows where the new deposit is located. He left a couple chunks with me, which I'll be cutting as soon as it warms up.

Congrats to Bob, and I hope his business is a success, jakesrocks! Please let us know if he creates a rock shop website. Did I mention that Bob located a new location for Biggs jasper ? I think wascoite was discovered somewhere near the Biggs or Deschutes sites?

This is good to see people to making big step and dropping long hours on the road and finally doing something they love and will enjoy. I wish him nothing but all best and luck in business. My uncle has died on the road near Pennsylvania he suffered a massive heart attack and this is all because of being on the road for 11 years not eating right and no exercise. Its not easy to be a truck driver.
Good for you Bob

Welcome aboard Norman.
No worries about Bobs health. He's an ex Army Ranger & keeps himself in top health. Every time he has a few hours or days between hauling loads, he's out hiking, looking for rocks. He regularly hauls out 40 & 50 pound boulders over several miles of rough ground. He gets plenty exercise between truck runs, And usually eats good meals when he stops for the night.

Being on the road all day 5 days a Week and alone. What to do with your self, well 80% of them will smoke eat sleep for few hours and do it all over again. Bob on the other hand is one of those 20% smart ones. And Ex Army Ranger and hauls out 40 & 50 pound boulders over several miles of rough ground wooooo damn.

Unfortunately not at this time Pat. I think his partner is working on opening an ebay account. I'll contact him & see if he has plans for a website when I catch him on facebook. For those who are on facebook, Bobs partner Jay has been posting a lot of pics of material they have for sale on his home page. www.facebook.com/jay.vermillion.71

I remember a photo you posted of Bob and his truck backed up to get rocks from your stash, bur I couldn't find it to re-post it. This nation will survive if the freebee folks get lazy and stay home on election day.

Thank you kind sir. I have this posted on 2 other forums as well, and Bob's business partner is taking care of promoting the business on facebook.
Hope all of you have a chance to meet Bob sometime in the future. He's an all around nice guy, and a hell of a lot of fun to be around.

LOL. Bob looks fat in the pic, but that's all muscle. Below what appears to be a beer belly is a 34" waist. I know because I'm tooling a new leather belt for him. He gets his nickname Littlefoot from his size 7-1/2 feet below his 5' 8-1/2" frame. When he was in the Army Rangers, they had to have his jump boots special made because of his small feet.
