How cool is this! Most of the fossils in this area are now in Iowa thanks to the glaciers. Though we do find a few things.

Over near Tuscaloosa a friend finding pet wood Ed. River rats. Exceptional skeleton, Montgomery county = Montgomery ? our quartzite territory By the way, the spot we collected quartzite at is going into the vibe. Far better material from that spot than the ranch I was at upstream. The bigger cobbles where we were yielded much better fracture free pieces. Gotta snap those cobbles with the small hammer.

Yelp, the same Montgomery area. Well, the creeks should be overflowing if I can go by the storm we had last night. I haven't heard rain like that in years....hard, hard rain...worried me a few times it got so loud... Tuscaloosa is an interesting area. I've wanted to venture west a bit, have scoped a few spots out that I might test...will be when warmer/dryer weather moves in.

Awesome!!! They are going to find more Dinos out there, they were everywhere... There was "something" found a few years ago about 30 miles from me south of Montgomery...it was supposedly the largest water creature discovered so far, but now I can't find a mention of it. Here's another one, though, from 'Bama, and in the area that the above mentioned find was located...maybe this is what I read about rather than it being a water creature ... www.rathcoombe.net/sci-tech/al-dino.html

Intheswamp and jamesp If I find a dino skeleton I am NOT reporting it! Nope no way... What would you do with it ? That's the trick. First thing, something this big I'd certainly screw it up if I tried removing it. And just think, if it's a new species then it could be named Intheswampasaurus!!!! Of course, cat-sized....I'd have to think about it.
