Wonderful! I bought my tomatoes and lettuce yesterday. Gonna get them in the ground today. Waiting for green peppers and squash. Home Depot doesn't have them yet. Sheri

Well still 5 mo before we plant frost free but seed catalogs are coming in, my bees took their first cleansing flight this week since oct. No wonder they're so ornery haven't been to the bathroom for 4 mo.

From what I read radishes won't do so well being crowded. I kinda figured carrots being a 'root' would be the same way.

I am starting a new garden and it will be fallow for one year to get the fertility up to snuff. One of my friends has a 3 acre garden. His garden has been ammended for density rich veggies and fruits and when checked with a "Brix" meter the quality is off the charts. I will be eating off it until my new one gets ammended.
Bees are cool, I built two versions of a Perone hive last winter and am building two modified deep frame top bar hives....both are experimental in this climate. Almost to harsh to winter bees over. We are trying to develop a bee strain similar to the black bees in russia which can survive up to 6 mo without a cleansing flight.

Ah, update: dug back the soil a bit around the base of the biggest radish when I got home. I can see it's bulking up.. shouldn't be too much longer for these! Also it got damn chilly after this cold front moved through yesterday. No freeze warnings for tonight but mighty close. Got the 'planket' ready just in case

I plant my carrot seeds and lightly cover. Then I pour boiling water over them which reduces the germination time by over half I think. You can google it, there are techniques of scarifing different seeds to improve and speed up germination. I planted carrots one year in a peat bed, they were super long and thin as a pencil.

Lowes? Meh..... Yeah, thats where I get them! Lowes,Home Depot, supplied by Bonnie. The only places I can depend on to get the Celebrity variety I plant.Tried all local suppliers, should have seen the results. They buy cheaper seed and stick a celebrity label in them because its the most popular. People buy them and when hardly any production from the plants, say must of been a bad year.I used to buy a dozen at a time from different sources and grew them side by side.Should have seen the different varieties that were supposed to be Celebrity.
