Nice piece! Ferric quartz,does look like jasper....But it is the true name (Ferric Quartz)....

Listed as "ferric quartz" but I'm thinking more along the lines of jasper. Didn't take these pics btw, this is from the original listing. It's been so overcast here there's a severe lack of good lighting Overcast makes the sky a huge light box. Very soft lighting, no shadows. Give it a try! Gorgeous rock.

Overcast makes the sky a huge light box. Very soft lighting, no shadows. Give it a try! Gorgeous rock. of course now it's sunny! Hard to take a picture of a stone with a mirror polish at an angle--hopefully the foggy image of my iphone doesn't take away from the cool crystal formations!

Cool! Looks very poppy jasper-like to me...Mel If you zoom in on the pixel you can clearly see quartz crystals. The color of red makes me think mercury not iron. Use care when cutting.
