...this time with my flex shaft on my dremel. I'm attempting a scarab. I originally planned to use a hunk of limestone, but decided a softer stone I picked down in Illinois with my buddy Ted (tandl on here) would work just as well and maybe add some character. Here's the piece before I began Front:  Back (has a Biggs look to it):  I've got an hour or so into it. Here's what I got done today.   Thanks for looking. |

I cracked up reading the subject line Nate  the things we do for rocks m  stly but that looking scarabish really neat ! a good chipping tune for ya that'll keep ya rocking mohs |

I call it nonsense because I can't draw to save my butt. But I've had this idea in my head and thougt it was time to give it a try.

Thanks guys. Got a little more time on the bug today. Getting close to being done shaping as the irregularities in the stone are too deep to smooth out.   I've never sanded with a dremel. Gonna be an adventure for sure! |

Thanks Ed. I think the pix are more flattering than it deserves. The whole thing is actually a bit crooked. I guess I'll say it has character lol.

Thanks for the replies & kind words. I Got the sanding and polishing done. I could go 1 step further on the polish, but I doubt it'll help this soft stone.  Thanks for looking. |
