Mr. jamesp, ever think about making a huge pit. Get you a 360 or 500 tank and split it in two. Put a whole pig in the bottom and make a fire. There is 3 tank heads in South Georgia I have basically been given if I go get them. They are 8 feet across, 1 inch thick steel, and weigh 3000 pounds each. After transport and renting a crane the price would have to be steep. Not sure if I could sell. Basically too big. I could get some 6 foot bowls. Good for a medium pig/deer. Had requests for such, gave quotes, no one pulled trigger. Surprised that the deer hunting clubs have not made such request. Perfect for 20 hunters to do a wild hog/deer. If such was advertised in the right hunting site(GON-Georgia Outdoor News) I bet I would get some interest.

Used up about 150 of these 5 inch grinding wheels in 2016. Smoothing the lip where the cut the bowl. Angle grinder catches abuse.

Probably should @shotgunner. Still maxing out time efficiency on the cookie cuts. Have design I saw in a Norwegian publication I got to build. Got to. It is two bowls welded together with a flue to get smoke up and away.

I use a 9" grinder for the heavy grinding before the small angle grinder , big wheel seems to hold up much better

It would seem that a couple more poles would be warranted. Better safe than sorry. We can't have one of the top Tumbling Labs shut down for any length of time.

They will resonate and the whole pit will start bouncing off the ground lol. Making the grinder bounce and making for some uneven material removal. I even have to buy particular brands of 5 inch wheels and use a high end Dewalt angle grinder with smooth bearings. The vibration was a serious problem. When you grabbed the bowl to dampen it when it was vibrating it sometimes bruised the bones in your hand. Must get to vibrating a 1/2 inch at 20-30 times per second. Make a heck of a vibe.

That is the exploration equipment and boat shed. Employees parking in front of the boat are subject to instant firing. The fabric hung on the ceiling to the right was used to keep birds from crapping on a center console ocean boat. It needed a high ceiling. I woke up to heavy sleet about 3 AM one morning. Had to run over and build a big fire under that shed to melt the rapidly accumulating ice on the roof. Lost a greenhouse to snow before, forgot to remove the shade cloth. The snow stuck to it. The bamboo pole has worked several times before. Shed is insured. Yes, a post should be welded in but it makes boat in/boat out difficult. Can't have that.

That vibrating bowl effect has stimulated thought into a vibe made of one of those bowls wigglinrocks. Every one has a natural frequency that could be initiated. Get it into a harmonic and it might be an efficient vibrator.

Damn the bad luck huh Made a rotary out of one of these bowls. If you ran rocks bigger than 1/2 inch it destroyed them by bruising. even at 12 RPM. What a flop. But a great factory machine for for frosting crushed glass at 60 pounds a batch in a short. Also good for coarsing media sized agate tumbles. www.flickr.com/photos/67205364@N06/sets/72157649670517562

When is your snow supposed to hit & how much? MIL is up there - west of Atlanta near the AL border - visiting wife unit's niece and wife (yeah...) so maybe she gets snowed in and can't head back here as planned on Sunday.

Start 1 pm today till 1 pm Saturday. 24 hours. Precipitation in small blobs. Snow expected to be variable due to some high output blobs. West of Atlanta probably 3 inches, about same as my place. However cold at least thru Mon/Tues, so snow/ice not going away. Sunday travel likely a problem. If she can get 50-100 miles south she should be out of the accumulation. That would require traveling smaller back roads. The interstates I-20 to I-75 may be totally safe, time will tell. I-20 east should be her challenge.niece and wife ?

My timing on the Tumbler change was perfect as it's raining here now, 33 degrees, with some ice forming in trees and on patio furniture. If this moisture moves up to your area you might see more than predicted. If we were 2 or 3 degrees colder we would really begin to have major issues here.
Everyone stay warm and safe.

H Just came in. Frozen hands round 1. Second time always easier, takes longer for them to get cold. Will take snow, please no freezing rain. Unfortunately it is 36 and the precipitation is 2 hours away. Looking like the perfect storm for frozen rain rather that snow judging temp. Good luck with 33 and wet precip. Especially if you live with tall trees.
